PRINTMAKING:
Students will create styrofoam templates with ball point pen carving of TREES. Plates will be inked with black. 4 trees will be printed with each pull. will be pulled.

WEEK OF FEBRUARY 24TH:

Students will experience the emotions of 2 Russian painters - Wassily Kandinsky and Marc Chagall - while drawing and painting to music classics.



WEEK OF FEBRUARY 3RD:
CHINESE NEW YEAR DRAGON:
Student create an organic line with a piece of yarn and glue it on paper.
Contour lines are drawn to form dragon's body. Triangles added for tail and head. Students create a pattern for their body and add legs, feet, eyes ears, nostrils. Festive details added for the background.

Students will mix primary colors to make secondary colors

Science Education: Kindergarten Science Activities About Color - Marker and Water Butterflies
Talk to the students about how color is a a part of the science of the world. Give each student a white coffee filter and a set of red, yellow, and blue markers. Have them color the coffee filter anyway they would like, but ask them to keep the colors separate. Once the filter is colored (it doesn't have to be completely colored in) give them spray bottles of water or eye droppers and small cups of water. Have them spray or drop water on the filter and watch the colors run together and mix into purple, orange, and green. Once the filers are dry, gather each student's filter down the center and secure with a clothespin in the middle. Fan out the filter on either side of the clothespin to make butterfly wings. Talks with the students about the colors in nature and how colors are a part of the science of the world.science
